Details

Appearance
Standing at 7 fulm, 1 ilm, Baatar towers over all but the tallest of Roegadyn. Certainly, he is as many of his kin, rugged and mighty, with muscles and form hardened from years of conflict. His long, fiery red hair is tied into a ponytail, with hues of orange highlights woven throughout the thick locks. His eyes are a piercing purple, with a brilliant orange limbal ring, that contrasts nicely with the dusk blue color of his skin. His horns stretch along the side of his head, the scaly texture marked with several scars from battle. Like all Au Ra, he is covered in scales, his the typical black coloring of the Xaela. Scaled plating line his chin and jaw, the bridge of his nose, above and beneath his eyes, and around his forehead. His tail is long and thick, adorned with several spines near the top.
Honed from years of fighting, his form is firm with thick muscle and a warrior's build. Numerous scars mark his skin, which he bears proudly as signs of his many victories. Thick callouses cover the palms of his hands, earned from years of wielding his mighty axe and wrestling the tigers that roam the Azim Steppe. As with his face, his body is covered with scales, which can be seen most prominently on his arms, which he keeps devoid of protection save for the scales themselves. As all warriors of the Qerel, he wears armor crafted from the bones of the steppe tiger he killed upon his coming of age. Dyed black and red, the armor is adorned with furs and set atop hardened leathers and cloth. The rest of his garb consists of armored gauntlets, hardened leather pants, and armored boots. He wears a necklace of tiger bones around his neck and tiger fangs hang from each of his horns.A warrior above all, he wields the mighty axe and ancestral weapon of the Temürdai known to his people as Temur Bars, or "iron tiger" in the common tongue. The double blades of the head are etched with Xaelic symbols, with adornments of tiger fur and cloth where head meets haft. The haft itself is made from horn and wood, and wrapped in thick leather. A counterweight is affixed to the end of the haft, to ensure the mighty weapon is properly balanced.

Personality
With a personality as mighty as his looks, Baatar is a man of pride and steadfastness, unwavering like the mountains that line the borders of his homeland. His manner is grim, though not out of any inherent malice, but rather from an upbringing that differs from so many throughout the world. Always does he carry a mighty bearing, and never does he shy away from his great heritage.
Though he often appears calm, his blood runs with a furious wrath said to be a gift from the old gods, and when incensed he can be stirred to a feral fury, a sight unseen in many parts of the world. Stubbornness, too, runs deep in his person, and rarely can any sway him from his path. He carries a judgmental eye, and he lets no slight to his honor go unnoticed, nor cruel mistreatment of another. He has little patience for riddles and the coy of speech, and his words are always direct and without thought of offense or propriety. He cares little for the bustles of civilization and the ideals of urban folk, his compassion and ideals rooted in the wilds and his people. It is clear that he is forever true to himself and to who he is.

Abilities

  • Strength - Even for a Xaela, Baatar's strength is considerate. He is the strongest of the Temürdai, so much so that his physical prowess is often said to rival that of the legendary might possessed by Temürdai Qerel, forefather of his clan. He regularly wrestles the powerful Steppe tigers into submission, and has stood his ground against the Steppe's larger predators.

  • Master Combatant - Baatar is the Temürdai's greatest warrior, a fearsome opponent who wields his greataxe with an almost supernatural mastery. While the greataxe is his preferred weapon, he is trained in the use of the Xaelic hunting bow and hunting knife, and will utilize them when necessary. He is also highly skilled in unarmed combat, preferring a grappling and striking style developed by the Qerel to match the mighty Steppe tigers.

  • Spirit Fury - Known to his people as an ongon daichin, Baatar holds within him the bound spirit of a mighty Steppe tiger, through which he can control the Will of Karash. As a 'spirit warrior' he is able to channel the spirit's fury together with his own in battle, in doing so becoming a nigh unstoppable opponent borne of a primeval fury.

  • Falconry - The Temürdai hold falcons as sacred animals, second only to the Steppe tigers. Baatar was taught the ways of falconry from a young age, in both the traditional hunter and warrior techniques. In the wilds, his falcon Oyuun is an invaluable ally, and he fights in tandem with his avian companion, joining axe and steel with talon and wing.

  • Horsemanship - Like many Xaela, Baatar is a skilled horse rider, primarily in endurance riding for traversing the vast grasslands of the Steppe and mounted combat for use in warfare. As Khanzadeh of the Temürdai, his horse Tseren is a descendant of Temürdai Qerel's mighty steed Erketu, and he raised the stallion from when he was a foal.

  • Survival Skills - Borne from a nomadic culture, Baatar has no shortage of survival skills. He is a skilled hunter and tracker, and was instructed in the arts of herbalism by his mother. He is adept at surviving in the various biomes of the steppe, from mountain valleys to wide grasslands, and is well-learned in animal husbandry.

RP Hooks

  • Baatar is a famed warrior of the Qerel, renowned for his near supernatural fury and mastery of the axe. He has battled many across the Azim Steppe, and has made friends and rivals with many of his own tribe and with those of others.

  • He is known to his people as a 'spirit warrior' - or ongon daichin in his native tongue - which are those said to posses the bestial spirit of a steppe tiger and able to channel their animal fury in battle.

  • He has undertaken the rite of passage in Bardaam's Mettle, and emerged victorious, claiming a yol of his own. He has yet to participate in the Naadam, though one day he may lift his axe as a champion of the Qerel.

  • He has become a guardian to a kind and adventurous Qalli archer, and has since undertaken a journey to Eorzea as her protector.

OOC

Hello! Thanks for giving my page a look!I'm almost always up for some RP - especially if my RP tag is on! I'm a pretty friendly player, even if Baatar doesn't always come off as such! New friends and contacts are awesome, and don't be afraid to approach me for RP. If you want to RP, but are too shy to initiate, let me know and I'll make it happen.I enjoy all sorts of RP, but I very much enjoy character-driven stories and establishing long-term bonds with other characters! I'm open to all sorts of contacts - old friends, rivals, family, fellow Qerel tribe members, other Xaela, and whatever else. That all said, I'm not a fan of godmoding or harm coming to Baatar without my consent, and I'm not so much into random or roll based combat. I'm happy to discuss a fight outcome privately, however.
